Healing Through Hockey
The DVHL is where disabled veterans play hockey, on teams, on a schedule, against each other. It is a league, and it is a lot more than a league.

Pittsburgh Warriors Hockey
What the DVHL is about
The Pittsburgh Warriors Disabled Veterans Hockey League (DVHL) is an internal recreational league designed for honorably discharged veterans with service-connected disabilities under the motto "Healing Through Hockey."
Veterans without a VA disability rating are welcome to play in our club games, including Guard and Reserve. The USA Hockey Classic, Championship and Hendy tournaments require a VA disability rating of 10% or higher, so please tell us your rating status when you apply.
Every player is drafted onto a team with a captain, a name and a bench full of people who get it. For a lot of us it is the first team we have been on since service.
The motto is Healing Through Hockey. We keep score, and nobody wants to lose, but the league exists for the veteran who shows up, not for the standings.
Teams are balanced by self-rating, draft and salary cap. Every player gets equal ice time, and a veteran who has never played gets equipment and training from the program.
The DVHL runs inside the Pittsburgh Warriors. Players are members, the same rink-mates who go to tournaments together, and the same people who show up for each other off the ice.

The trophy
Every DVHL season ends with one team lifting the Defenders Cup. The trophy is a gold cylinder carrying the Warriors logo, standing on two columns of military branch seals: Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Marine Corps and Air Force. The shield patch follows the real trophy, with original branch pictograms on its curved plaques. Read the story of the Cup.

The new look
The logo is not clip art. It is built from one of our own players, a frame from our own game photos, traced, lifted off the ice and flattened to team gold. Here is how it happened, in six steps.

Every version, with one-color files for patches and embroidery, is on the brand sheet.
How it works
To provide an organized venue for disabled veterans by establishing a competitive, fun, safe, and sportsmanlike hockey league where balanced competition and healing matter more than outcomes.
One team is crowned each session. The roster, championship photo and captain are linked from each card.
